The world of beauty can get a little insane even for those that forged it.
I've spent hours upon hours watching videos on contour, eye shadow (screw you smokey eye! lol) lip ombres, costume makeup, eyebrows, and so on and on, and on, and on, and...
After watching these videos, I wanted to share with you what I've learned. I can easily boil it down to one thing.. Wait what?! ONE THING!? ..YEAH GIRL! haha one thing that has sooo drastically improved my makeup ability that I can't believe I really know it now.... YOU READY?!
That one thing is that... those videos are wrong!

Do you know how many different "types" of face features there are?! For example, the eyes have SO many different types and they all require their own form of application, techniques and products.
If we take into account lips, brows, lashes, hairline, and everything else, how the heck are we supposed to ever learn to do OUR makeup!?
For me, I don't need to be watching the super models of makeup to feel excited about my smudged up, no liner, how-the-heck-to-contour face. :-) I stopped watching the "Instagram makeup" videos and decided to start learning about my own face and it's structure. The photo that you see above is my first attempt at the UNKNOWN world of my own face. I decided to practice with my NYE makeup (because drastic makeup from screwing up would be easier to hide) and to be honest, I was simultaneously stoked and freaked out; I loved it! Now, why is this the unknown...?
There has NEVER been a video tutorial on how to do MY makeup. Nobody has ever filmed themselves with my face on to show how best to do makeup on me. To know myself, I have to "Do the Unknown" and that means stepping away from behind the phone and up to the mirror. <3 I am EXCITED about what I am going to learn going forward. You bet my downturned-round eyes (if that even is what they are haha) are going to be looking gooood over the next couple of months!
